Beth Cavener Stichter's, 'Breathe' 2008, Stoneware, antique stool

Beth Cavener Stichter was a major influence when producing my clay artworks, as the figures she uses are greatly relatable to that of mine. They are both simply feral and domestic figures suspended in a moment of tension. Stichter is a great inspiration of mine. The way she uses the raw clay to express the human psychology, stripped of context and rationalization, and articulates it through animal and human forms, I believe is something that is very interesting, and a subject i would possibly like to explore in the future.
